Visiting by Air or Ground
Land tours to St Petersburg has been on many people's must-see list for centuries due it being a truly unique city. As probably the most cultured cities in the world and the most preserved large city in the world, being the only city on the UNESCO World Heritage List, some assume it is only about history and art. That would be a mistake, since it blends a thriving modern social scene, with historic context at every turn, it is also open, friendly and very easy to meet locals.
The evenings until late in the morning, the entire city center is teeming with music, dance, fine dining, theater, and local residents enjoying their unique city. The hundreds of drama theaters, concert halls, ballet theaters, rock venues, jazz clubs, late night dining in outdoor cafes, roof top terraces, or small specialty cafes. The city has an energy and vibrance not seen in many northern latitude cities, and never seems to sleep during the famous White Nights period from late May to early July when the night never really gets dark. Taking a stroll in a park or along one of the many picturesque canals or rivers at 3a.m. is as common in St Petersburg as driving to the grocery store in most countries.
Although the nights are full, most visitors are eager to explore starting in the morning because there is so much to see that they do not find back home. Between the world class museums, restored opulent palaces, beautiful parks, ornate cathedrals and spectacular architecture, there never seems to be enough time to enjoy it all.
Although the city can be navigated alone to get the most out of a limited stay using a Tickets and Tours guide and a fully or partially pre-determined plan based on your interests, will give you the most interesting, fun and informative experience.
