The private guide will introduce you to locals if you wish so that you can share thoughts and experiences. At the first day’s tour end, you’ll have the choice of returning to your hotel or explore on your own for the night or reserve one of the many evening activities available such as fine dining, concerts, a pub crawl, folk show, ballet, jazz clubs etc.

This personal private tour is perfect for the first time visitor to Russia, with an excellent overview of the history, culture and contemporary life. This is a tour intended for those arriving by air or land with pick up from your centrally located hotel or apartment. It was created to include more interaction with the city and culture as well as all of the most popular attractions: Hermitage/Winter Palace, General Staff, Church on Spilled Blood, Peter and Paul Fortress, Catherine Palace/Amber Room, Imperial Park, Peterhof Fountain Park, a Metro ride, canal and Neva River cruise, and more. The private guide will introduce you to locals too so that you can share thoughts and experiences.

Day 1:
Pick-up from the port or your centrally located hotel. Panoramic city tour of St Petersburg and a visit to the Peter and Paul Fortress. Visit the Church of the Saviour on Spilled Blood. Break for lunch (own expense). Visit the Hermitage Museum. Take a canal cruise. At the end of the first day tour you have your choice of returning to the ship for the night or stay with us and explore the city more, visit a fine restaurant, shop or just sit in an outdoor cafe people watching, attending the optional “Feel Yourself Russia” famous folkloric show, Ballet, Jazz Club, Faberge Museum, visit one of the popular English style pubs to chat with locals…it is your time to do as you please. When you are ready to return, we transport you to your ship for the night.

Day 2:
Pick up from the port or your centrally located hotel.

Start the day with a city tour to the South. See the major sites of the palace estates including statues, monuments, rivers and canals, beautiful bridges, cathedrals and palaces, memorial squares and parks. Visit Catherine Palace and view the stunning palace facade which is 1000 feet long. The tour will visit all of the major halls and private rooms. A particular highlight is the Amber Room.

Enjoy free time in Pushkin in the delightful, small town of Pushkin. Dine (own expense), explore, take photos, shop, or stroll its manicured parks.

Drive to Peterhof and visit Peterhof Fountain Park – built to rival Versailles in France, Peter the Great helped design the 300 acre park and fountains. Stroll through the lower park, and its 150 fountains. Please note that Peterhof is not included from October 1 to April 15 due to the Fountains being turned off for the winter, another palace will be substituted.

Return to St Petersburg and take the Metro (subway system) – which is an attraction in itself – find out why they are known as the magnificent “Palaces of the People” .

Return to your ship or centrally located hotel.

Itinerary

Day 1 Meet at your place of residence

On the first day, meeting at your hotel or lodging as arranged, and head straight out on a city orientation tour of the city center.
Hermitage Museum and Winter Palace
Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood
St. Isaac’s Cathedral
Lunch Time, a stop for lunch.
Neva River and Canal Cruise
At about 6 pm, choose to return to your hotel or anywhere you wish to be taken to explore on your own.. If you need assistance arranging dinner reservations, your guide would be happy to arrange it, or sign on for optional evening activities (available for an extra fee), including a visit to the Faberge Museum, folk show, ballet, concert, a pub crawl, or a guided walking tour.

Note: For those tours starting on Monday, the itinerary of day 1 and day 2 are exchanged because the Hermitage is closed on Mondays.

Day 2Meet to continue your tour for the second day at a time of your choice

On the second day, meet your guide at 08:00 at your ship’s passenger terminal
Drive to the southern palace estates of Pushkin (approximately 40 minutes)
Visit Imperial Park surrounding Catherine Palace
Catherine Palace — one of the world’s great palaces — is located. Spend the morning exploring the palace and its grounds
Break for an included quality lunch
Visit Peterhof, a seafront palace complex that’s famous for its sprawling gardens and many fountains. Explore Fountain Park
During the return to St. Petersburg, you’ll go for a ride on the metro, famous subway known for its baroque decoration and visit several ornate stations.
The tour concludes when you’re returned to your ship one hour before departure.
