Tour Details

Founded by Peter the Great in 1703, St. Petersburg remains one of the world’s most beautiful cities. This comprehensive, 2-day shore tour makes it easy to discover its many charms, from palaces and parks to canal trips and cultural evenings out. Lasting for roughly 17 hours across two days (or 20 hours, should you sign on for an optional, 3-hour evening extension), this tour is the perfect introduction to the city.

On the first day, disembark from your ship after arriving in the city, and head straight out on a city orientation tour of the city center. You’ll have interior visits to landmarks like the Hermitage Museum, Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood, St. Isaac’s Cathedral and the Winter Palace, punctuated with a stop for lunch. You’ll also take an hour-long cruise on the River Neva. At 5:30pm, choose to return to your ship or use your 3-hour extension to see the city after dark. Explore or dine out independently, or sign on for optional evening activities (available for an extra fee), including a visit to the Faberge Museum, a pub crawl, a visit to the ballet, or a guided walking tour.

On the second day, meet your guide at 8am at your port and venture just beyond the city limits to Pushkin, where the Catherine Palace — one of the world’s great palaces — is located. Spend the morning exploring the palace and its grounds before breaking for lunch, after which you’ll visit Peterhof, a seafront palace complex that’s famous for its sprawling gardens and many fountains. Wind down the tour and return to St. Petersburg, where you’ll go for a ride on the metro, famous for its baroque decoration. The tour concludes when you’re returned to your ship one hour before departure.

Please see the Itinerary for details on each day of the tour.

This tour is a private tour, so only your party or whomever you invite will accompany you. The driver stays with the vehicle so it is safe to leave extra items in the vehicle while visiting museums or other walking activities.
For couples, a late model full-size sedan is used, and if 3 or more members, a late model touring van will be used.
For those wanting larger groups, over 16, we can arrange any size party to hundreds with generous discounts, using modern motor coaches. Contact us directly if that is desired at Email Us

The weather can be changeable even in summer so bring as least a rain resistant jacket in case of rain. We provide rain ponchos or umbrellas, however. In the spring and fall, chances of rain increases but in the last decade, weather trends have been to warmer and even hot in mid-summer.

Wear comfortable broken-in walking shoes, there is a lot of walking since many of the palaces and cathedrals are LARGE. Some areas are paved in cobblestones so having firm soles keep feet from being bruised.
Since it is a private tour, there is some flexibility in the schedule but 2 destinations are by strict appointment times for entry; Hermitage and Catherine Place.

Lunches are not included because the variation in preferences is so great and options in style, grade, and national cuisine choices are so vast that we leave that up to your preferences. There are over 11,000 restaurants in St Petersburg and overall the quality and care with which it is prepared is higher than most international destinations so everyone should be pleased with the options.

This a fun tour, with highly professional licensed guides selected for their outgoing engaging personalities. given that all guides in St Petersburg are highly educated and qualified by a strict licensing program and examinations. All will have university degrees in related fields.
During booking, there is a text box that can accept additional information. Please add any mobility restrictions, diet restrictions, hotel or meeting place and time you desire. We recommend 09:00 starting time.

We had a great time, and could not have been more pleased with our guide Marina and driver Stas. This was our first visit to Russia so we were a little apprehensive but booking was a snap, and Tickets and Tours were patient with all our questions. Definitely, we will return
