This is the apartment where Dostoevsky wrote The Brothers Karamazov. It’s been restored to look as it did when he died here in 1881.

The exhibition of the museum restores the interior of the world-famous writer’s last apartment. The exhibits are the private belongings of Dostoevsky and his books. The display is divided into two parts. The first one has the materials featuring Dostoevsky’s biography and creative work from 1821 to 1864. The second part presents the materials related to the next period of the writer’s life and creative work – from 1865 to 1881.
The authentic neighborhood is little changed from the period he drew his inspiration, characters, and locales from. Readers of his books will recognize street names and buildings from his descriptions.
